Default Searching for a certain tutorial I saw!

I have been searching for hours here looking for a tutorial I recently saw (but not sure where). It was a tutorial about font and bookends- and there was a football in it. The font was around the football. I hope someone knows what I am talking about- it was a great tut! Thank You!

I havent seen that tutorial. But, what is it you are wanting to do? Apply text to a path like the outside of the football?

I checked the video on advanced artist- that wasn't the one I was looking for- the one I saw took the word Football (I think) and refered to the procedure as bookends where the F and the L stayed large and the letters inbetween arched- there are probably more ways than one to do this, but I thought it was a really good tutorial. Hmmmmm....just can't figure out where I saw it! Thanks for your help!

Again, I have not seen this tutorial, but the effect you are looking for (I believe) is interactive envelope tool.

If I get a chance later thsi eve I will see if I can make a short tutorial on it for you. Only takes a second to use the tool.

I have been trying to figure out how to do a specific warp on my text in CS3. I'm not sure of the technical term for it. Could be concave, convex, arched, double curved??? You see it a lot on sport team shirts.

The left and right of the word are like the "bookends" mentioned, but as you look toward the center, it gets progressively smaller.

I know how to fit the bottom of the text to a curve, but I can't figure out how shape the top of the text.

Can't find the answer in CS3 Help, Advanced Artist, or Forum search because obviously I don't know the right search term.

I'll attempt an example:
FOOTBALL
Well. That would be right on the top, but what about the bottom doing the same thing?

Using Envelope Distort in Illustrator for Fitting Words in Shapes Corrie Haffly

The above tutorial should help you achieve that effect in Illustrator (since you said CS3). Here's me using the same method to create something similar to what you wanted.

For goodness sake I even had the CS3 manual out!

Guess I could always import it from CS3 to CorelDraw.

Thanks for your answer, but can anyone tell me how to do that in CorelDraw? It would save some time.

For Corel you simply use the Interactive Envelope tool. Sometimes you may need to add nodes, but for that type of effect it's not really necessary. Here's a quick screenshot showing the tool that you need to use, I've circled the nodes with a red circle as well.

Here's what I learned from a tutorial (different from the tutorial mentioned above):
Create the text, break it apart. Select the first and last letter of the word at the same time (click one letter, hold the shift and click the second letter). Hit the "plus" key - this will put duplicate letters over the originals. Hit the arrow down button enough times to move the new letters directly below the originals. Select the whole word, go to the envelope tool, select the curved option. After the curve is formed, delete the original first and last letters, and move the unedited ones up the same amount of times as you went down...that is what I have learned a bookend to be. The first and last letters aren't enveloped - but I've seen it done many ways.
