I was curious what the best (free, if possible) screen video capture program is. Again, cheap or free is best, but I'd like to know what other people use.
I'd like to do a few videos with the plotters that I'm testing, and it would be very helpful if I could capture video of my screen as I'm working for people to see what I'm doing.
Yikes! Okay, I don't have $300 right now, but thank you!
I did find one for FREE. It's called CamStudio (CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software). It seems to be all I'll need for now. I'll play around with it a little while and see if it will work for me, at least for now.
Hm...don't have a microphone. I guess I'll just need to use my video camera's mic and edit the videos together with Vegas.
Chani, if you are wanting to do video and not screen capture, you may look at Nero or something similar. You may even have Microsoft Movie Maker or something to that effect. I thought I had read somewhere that it was free. But I could be wrong on that one.
Yes, I meant screen recording (video capture), but the software that you linked to will do that, right?
For these tests I'll try out the software that I linked to, along with my parents' video camera and Sony Vegas 6 video editing software. It'll work for what I need it for for these tests.
But thanks for your help!
And thank you, too, Mark. That helps me to know that the software is worth it.
I have been using Snagit for years. Really like it. Captures screens, web pages, video, etc. They also have a 30day trial. Well worth the investment of $40.
I know you've probably heard enough of the camtasia gang, but I just wanted to chime in and say that it's what I use as well.
I was searching around for this type of program last year and I tried a few of the free ones, but I ended up sticking with camtasia because it was easy to use, had good support, and was professionally developed.
Some of the other ones I tried weren't as stable or had too many bugs or didn't have enough export features.
Here's another one to look at that is less expensive than camtasia: demo-builder.com . I tried the demo of this one and it was pretty good, but I didn't end up buying it.
