Yes, the design can have wording if you like. It's totally up to you as the designer to decide whether or not you want to use words in your design

To keep things fair, only after the deadline has been reached and all the entries have been received will the design entries be revealed for voting

Just read this...if the Iphone is the GSM version then you can use it with either Rogers or Fido in Canada right now with no problem. So don't worry about not being able to use your IPhone.
