need help making layered numbers in 2 colors

Just starting out have illustrator11 an flexi starter i know its not much but i should be able to do layered numbers

I'm not familiar how the flexi starter works, but in illustrator try this:
Type a number.
fill with a color.
Fill the stroke swatch with the color you wish.
In the stroke palette, adjust the size (thickness) of the stroke.
I think if you make sure the colors are spot colors, then they should print as seperations.

ok then how about cutting this with a plotter to cut both colors
