Hello everyone,
i was wondering if anyone here had an idea of pricing when buying designs from someone. what would be a reasonable price to pay for a design. any input would be grately appreciated. thanks
Well, that can be hotly debated, as seen on the froums with many threads. There isn't really a common price for designs, because of the many factors involved. Such as - The size and scope of the project, the abilities of the artist, the reputation of the artist, whether the artist is starving or not, how many changes are you allowed, time, talent, etc.
Some people here expect to get awesome designs for $75 (or less). That is frankly an insult to a talented artist. Others try to work out a percentage of sales deal. Or grab a student fresh out of art school. Or get the church bulletin lady who knows how to use Word.
I know this may not directly answer your question, but it addresses the issues that you will be looking at.

I kinda agree with Robert. It depends on the detail and size and if they are giving you in vector form. There are some artist on deviantart.com who will charge $50.00 for any work.
I've dealt with reputtable designers that want anywhere from $250 to $500 per design. If you are talking about the design of a website (strictly design), I've been quoted at around $700-$1000. Another reason I partnered with a designer. They can get pretty expensive!
Thanks to everyone who have replied specialy "robert"..i will into this a bit more..i do my own designs but am curious to see if im better off buying someones art for printing. my drawing skills are not up there..lol..thanks again for the info..and the copyright questions is a very important one that i have not thought of.
