We have the need to use outside sources to create very simple vector type drawings/logos. It seems the vast majority of them use AI. We have never been able to bring in the eps file totally clean and spend too much time trying to clean them up. Is there a simple way to accomplish this or is there a way to locate illustrators that use CorelDraw?
It the illustrations have gradients in them you will get very complex files that need to be cleaned up, but if you're just talking about solid colors we haven't had any troubles converting between AI, EPS, or CDR.
It there anything specific that you're having problems with?
The files I typically get include an .eps file which typically comes in with muted colors. The blacks, reds etc are faded and have to convert to bitmap, trace and recolor. Also any font that has effects do not really come in clean. I guess I am just trying to learn what is the best format of files to import into CDX3 so you can then convert to vector to modify as needed if you can not get a .cdr file. I like CDX3 so far but seems few people use it.
I recently got a file that converted some of the objects to grayscale and some of the objects to RGB. The thing is, in the original file, all of the objects were done in CMYK grayscale.
I am using X4 and the version of AI is CS1. Personally, I think it is the way that Illy exports files, these were done as a pdf.
When your artist saves the files, have them export them to a legacy version 10 EPS. These will have less problems.
