Default What is the difference ?

I was woundering what the difference is between Amazon.com: CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 Student & Teacher Edition: Software and Amazon.com: CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3: Software: Windows
can they do the same things, because I want to start working on some logo and tshirt graphics. I am using GIMP2 right now and it is great, but I am looking to upgrade to a better program.

No difference, you just need to have a student ID to buy the education version. Same product.

You can always buy something like Version 4 on ebay for cheap and then just buy the upgrade to X4 for $182. That is the easiest way.

They will request a copy of your student ID or proof that you are a teacher.

Yeah, they have to have proof that you are a student or teacher.

It's the seller's responsibility to ask for it. If they don't ask for it, don't worry about it.

It's been a while since I was in school, but back in the day you'd fax them your student card or whatever proof you had. Now you probably scan it.

The Student/Teacher editon does not have the books nor VBA support. A couple of other things as well. IT also restricts you from using it for commercial purposes.

Oh, I didn't know it doesn't offer VBA support. It's worth it to go the other route and buy an old copy and then the upgrade. I would die without Macros.

I don't know about Corel, but Adobe has no restrictions on its use.

I am not sure about Adobe. I used the trial version but went with corel. I dont know of any software that is a student/teacher version that allows commercial use. It may not be apparent, and is most likely burried in the legalese fine print, but I can pretty much assure you that it is there somewhere.

No, with Adobe, there is no difference in the versions. When you purchase a piece of software, Adobe cannot tell you how you may use it. It's yours to do with whatever you want. They have no idea whether you are selling the work you create or submitting it for grades. The sellers are supposed to only sell to students, but most of the time they don't even check. My previous version of Illustrator was an educational version, and it had all the features of the retail version.

This is one of those common myths that people hear and repeat, but it's not true, at least for Adobe products.

Also from what I have read the student version is not considered upgradable to x4. So essentially you would have to pay for the student version and (if you upgrade) the x4 version.
