I have never heard of the brand either, it may be O.K., but, like a lot of cheaper knock-offs, if it is one (cheap, that is) it may not be worth the money or effort.

I used a Wacom for quite a few years now, I've used the large 18"x18" ones, all the way down to the 4"x5" ones, they all are pretty good, but even still, you get what you pay for, even with a name brand like Wacom.
There are other brands out there that use batteries, or, are 'close' to Wacom, but I feel a difference even in the cheap Wacoms compared to the larger ones.
Personally, I like the 6"x8" Wacoms, they are not that expensive, and worth it even if they were.
I bought a 6"x8" one 10 years ago, I loved it, but wore it out, I replaced it with one I bought on e-Bay, I can't remember now what I paid, but it was quite a bit cheaper than the going price, and it was new.
I bought the "last year's model", so although it didn't look like the newer one, I still had most of the benefits of the new one, the differences were minute.
The MAIN difference between the better Wacoms and the cheaper ones is the pen's resolution, the newer (good ones) had a lot more resolution that my old one did, and the cheaper models that Wacom sells.
That just means that it glides really smooth, and when you paint a curve, it's a nice curve, not a 'jerky' looking one.
(There are a lot of buttons on a Wacom that you don't need, but might like, that is one of the main differences [probably] between a new model and a "last years" model, probably...)

This is one of the times to not be frugal, if you know people that you trust that use them, ask them what they think, and would they buy a Wacom again, they'll probably all say, "Yeah".
Like I said, you can look around on e-Bay, they have lots usually, and be careful too of course, there are those there that will try to take advantage of your money, but there are plenty of legitimate sellers there too.
I bought from a seller that had thousands of transactions, so I felt safe, and I also got a good deal, for once. heh

The less expensive Wacom's feel cheap to me, I can't explain how it feels, but to me, "cheap" covers it, although, I know that a LOT of people use them, and it does what they need.
The pen is different, or at least it did, and the tablet itself feels somewhat lightweight, and of course the resolution too, but in the newer models after mine, they may have 'upped' the resolution in the lesser expensive models, I don't know.
I tried a few of the cheaper models out, I couldn't make my cheap mind to go for it, you may not feel it, but for me, I had to spring for the more costly one, even though I was trying to be frugal.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.

Randy

I have a Wacom... little one 4x5... would be cool to have the bigger screen i imagine... If i ever take the time to get used to the pen and controls i will be dangerous... haha... for now it's the mouse.

The newish medium Wacom Bamboo Fun is a professional tablet cunningly disguised as a consumer product.

Very cheap, and superb (I actually prefer it to the $2000 studio wacom's I've used).

Exclamation Re: has anyone heard of LaPazz graphic tablet??

I know I am a little late but as I tried to use this page to get an idea for how good this tablet is i guess others will do the same... i am writing this to try and help anyone thinking of buying it.

i think it is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, i have been using it for nearly two weeks solid and i am HUGELY IMPRESSED. there is no way i cud afford to buy a proper wacom at the moment and since getting gambling on the lapazz (cos i cudn't find any reviews of it) i haven't thought about the wacom alternative.

since the wacom bamboo fun only has half the pen sensitity of this tablet you would have to look at the £320.00 intuos version (which will give you double the lapazz's 1024 levels) to get a better feel!!! The lapazz cost me £49.99... awesome (i know it seems to be cheaper stateside but it's good enough for me!)

IN A NUTSHELL:

+ 2000 lines per inch resolution.... 2400 on bamboo fun (not significant enough to make me pay far more than double.

+ 1024 levels of sensitivity in the pen.... ONLY 512 levels.... (BAD WACOM!)
+ 100 RPS (refresh rate) ..... ok, the wacom beats it convincingly here at 200 RPS (but i don't think that should put you off as i am quite picky and the refresh rate hasn't bothered me at all.
+ 42 programmable soft buttons.... only 4 or maybe a few more (realy buttons as opposed to soft but who cares? the soft ones work fine... (BAD WACOM!)

PROS:

the soft (programmable) buttons all four sides of the 8in x 6in active area are the best thing about it i think... and you don't get anywhere near the same level of funcionality from the wacom's... not even the really expensive ones!!! How many buttons do wacom bamboo or intuos tableys have 4, 8, maybe a few more, im not sure... THIS LAPAZZ TABLET HAS 42 COMPLETELY PROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS! That is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

i have printed out inserts with the same icons as photoshop (print screened and sorted out), laid them under the (very paper like) transparent surface provided and programmed all the soft buttons to put most of the tools and functions i use right on the tablet! this saves so much time and lets me use the tablet for drawing and helps me stay 'in the zone' as opposed to clicking the buttons on the screen. I SAY AGAIN, THIS TABLET HAS 42 COMPLETELY PROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS. i hope you get my point.

i saw one comment saying that they hit the soft buttons by accident whilst drawing... i have not done that once. maybe it is my drawing style but it certainly has not been a problem for me.

pressure sensitivty of 1024 levels... someone else said that theirs was less, i think they actually said there was only one level of sensitivity. BULL! that is simply someone who has not installed it correctly or for some other reason has not got it working... it took me about 10 minutes to have it working perfectly and a little longer to program all the buttons as i wanted them. THIS DEFINITELY HAS 1024 levels of sensitivity.

CONS:

lower refresh rate than the wacoms but it really hasn't bothered me personally. maybe if you are used to the wacoms you would be able to tell. this is the first time using a tablet but i have been sketching, drawing and designing for a very long time and i know how pen and paper feels very well... this aint too diferent... i got used to it within an hour or two and i am a convert... it's like pen and paper on roids...

the zoom shortcuts that i have assigned to two buttons on the tablet show that there is a short delay between pressing the button and it working but once again, please don't let that put you off, you will definately find using this tablet an enjoyable and efficient experience... i'm convinced of it.

CONCLUSION:

buy it if you find it... if you can afford the wacoms without breaking sweat, buy them... i would as i always like to have 'the best' but if you don't want to fork out extra... i TRULY can't see you being disapointed.

like i say, i have only ever used pen and paper and i used a mouse with photoshop... i will forever thank the stars for finding and buying this as it has invigorated me and inspired me to do some of my best ever work.

i'm not even interested in trying out a wacom till i can afford the £2000 top of the range gear!!! this will keep me very happy and speed up everything i do until then!

I hope this has been of some help... i was so disapointed with the internet community for not having a proper review of this thing anywhere that i had to make this post.

Don't buy it. It's cheap and nasty. I can't even take the lid off the pen to replace the battery. It's not just a bad product, but it doesn't work at all from what I've read. The above post is from the company. I'll try to get my money back and let you know how I go here and on other forums but I'm not betting on it. One forum was closed right after this same post. It's run by a bunch of people selling similar products to Lapazz, so I can only imagine it's the Lapazz (or whatever their other names are) people who closed the forum.

....blah blah blah... fan boy...
I purchased the Lapazz 8x6 inch tablet (93M-0800-022) for 34$ plus tax. Go spend your money on an expensive brand if your a starving artist who needs all the fancy stuff. I bought it because I cant get away from photoshop even if i wanted to. So I use this to increase my productivity. Even if this device only increases my productivity by 5% it already payed for its self 10 fold. I dont use it to draw pretty pictures i use it to be more productive.
A side benefit for some of you, is for left handed people who use the mouse with the right hand. I can have the pen in one hand and the mouse in the other. Now i just have to make it work in linux...

So for you skeptics, buy it at 34$ and give it to your kid if you dont like it. At least you tried.

I have a Lapaz pad that I love, but my pen took an grew legs and walked away, so if you decide you don't want yours I'll gladly take it off your hands. I have never used a wacom pad, but hear they are very good. Before the Lapaz I had a Cross pen and it was great till it died and could not be replaced....

Hope this helps...........

2 weeks of using is not long enough to judge. I may die the very next week (and I'm pretty sure if it is that cheap, it will). Stick with Wacom if you want something professional. It may be expensive but it's worth it. It's better to buy a Wacom and use it for years than something cheap and have to buy new ones to replace a broken one over and over again. I've had my Wacom Intuos for almost 5 years now and it's still as good as new, even the pen is still awesome (only need to replace the nips one in a while but it's really cheap), and I use my tablet as my regular mouse, and I work on my computer 12 hours a day everyday. That should tell you how good it is. For which kind of Wacom you want, the Bamboo is the most popular because it's the cheapest Wacom product but if you are a pro, I suggest the Intuos because it has so many more pressure sensitivity levels.

One more special thing that only Wacom tablets have is the texture feel to the tablet. It feels like working on paper when you draw on it using the pen instead of the glass-feel.
