Default Cartoon Type Image

What is the best way to produce a 'cartoony' type image such as this:

http://media.threadless.com/subs/big/78086.gif

I assume the stereo was produced using a photo of a stereo and manipulated in an art program. Would this be right?

I mostly use Photoshop and Illustrator, by the way.

Thanks,

James

actually this could be done using any number of ways. But because it is on an orange shirts I would say silkscreened.

As badalou said, screenprinting would give the best results (and an image like this can be printed that way - looks like a four colour print), but you could use a variety of methods.

You'd have to ask the artist... it could have been hand drawn, but you're right that it was more likely scanned into Illustrator and altered to suit.

Most likely they took a photo of it, imported it into a vector program and used it as reference by manually tracing over it with the pen tool and probably modifying it quite a bit.
