I am in the begining stages of designing t shirts. I have a general style and concept and have put together a few ideas so far, but am weary of technical and production issues that will occur later. One specific area in which I am curious is in mixing iron ons and screen printed images as a sort of mixed media effect. What guidelines should I follow in my designs?

Is it possible?
Can I overlap screen prints on iron ons?
Should I or can I make my designs where the iron on section fits within a blank space in the screen print?

Sorry if this is basic knowledge. This t shirt thing is going to be a passion/career stab but I am starting out with very limited knowledge/resources.
