Default Color Separation easier with EPS file than JPG?

Quick question - if a designer gives me an EPS file, is it easier to do the color separation in Illustrator as an EPS file than it is to convert it to a JPG to use in Corel Painter?

yeah, generally a .eps is a lot easier to pull color seps from but it really depends on the art. eps files are nice as if they are put together properly you can pull them apart, make items appear and reappear, change colors (such as changing a red section of the print to black so you can creat the screen seperation...) and other stuff like that. You do need proper software though, something like Illustrator or maybe Corel, although Illustrator is much better.
