I know this probably sounds like a simple question to most of the people on this site but: i made a logo that has gradients, and i want to put it onto a tshirt. im going to give it to a t-shirt company to make. How would I take the gradient and make it so that it could be screen printed. I have photoshop and Illustrator. I tried using halftone in photoshop but the radius of 4 makes the dots really noticeable. there is the picture i might add in some color though
Are you adding halftone filters or actually printing it to a postscript printer and looking st the print? Nothing you do in Photoshop or Illustrator ill match the halftone output on a postscript printer. If you send the design just like it is to your screen printer, they should be able to print the halftone separations fine. A 45LPi halftone would be produce hardly noticeable dots. Exactly how they do it would depend on what color shirt you want it printed on. Right now it's easy. More color will change things.
I've used photoshop to create a diffusion dither that is saved as a tiff and stacked on a path in illustrator.
The tiff is transparent and can be set to any color, allowing the color under it to blend with it. I'm working on a flame that has a yellow base with a tiff (set to red) on top of it for the affect.
A 100 dpi dither holds up well on a 230 screen.
I like the random dots better than a conventional half-tone pattern for some types of art. The finished product looks better than this attachment, but here is the general idea.
