Default illustrator

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...wblueberry.jpg

If you click on this link you will see a picture Im trying to get on a t shirt. I want it exactly like the pic, but just the plant. Im trying to get just the plant on a shirt. I dont want it to look like a cartoon image through illustrator. I want it just like the plant. I have worked with several illustrators who try but it doesnt look anything like the plant.

Can anyone tell me how to explain this to illustrators and is it possible? I think it is. I believe there are three colors in the pic which is fine. Correct me if Im wrong. How much do think I should pay for something like this to get done?

I guess the first thing is to determine exactly what it is you want. Do you want a line drawing that's colored in by hand, then scanned in at the printers? Do you want a digitized image in which case someone with enough filters and time can probably extract an image that's workable. Due to the subject matter, you're probably going to want to pursue a scientific illustrator of sorts (preferably someone who works closely with horticulture). Also, be clear about your timeline.

Hi!
If you want exactly as it is with just 3 colors, the result is 'not' achievable. You are trying to use just three colors to display a photographic image. If you use Illustrator or CorelDraw, yes, the design is going to look like a cartoon since less colors are involved. Unless you talk to EXPERT Coreldraw or Illustrator artist, he may find a solution for you using these sorts of program but its going to take a long time to make by vectorizing to get a realistic look.
For this kind of design it needs to be 4 color process. However, the design you will create will need to be worked around with the original image. If its a high resolution image, easire for you but if the image has a low resolution, it will take you ages to get the colors and design right. If the image is large, you are lucky and if you do not want CMYK process you might try Index color separation so that more than four colors are be used.

you can make it look realistic. to prove to you, the picture below is a vectorized image done in illustrator of your plant. there's a preset in illustrator CS2 under livetrace called 'high fidelity photo'. takes 2 seconds, click it and voila!
