Default Can I use it for shirt designs too ?

okay well I do admit Im a photoshop guy I can do everything in the shop from Image Man to Web design etc. etc. but I wondered can I do shirt designs in photoshop and export them out and have them printed ? because I was talking to some people and I got contradicting responses one said that its possible but the dpi has to be better then 300 and it cant be stretched, the other said illustrator is the best bet since it does vectors and if the design is small or big it can be easy resized with out a problem so I come to everyone here asking what is your suggestion ?

when you say "export them out and have them printed" are you talking about printing positives to burn into a screen, or DTG printing... If you're talking about DTG I have no experience whatsoever

if you want to print your film positives then yes, you can use photoshop. I do everything in photoshop from design conception/construction and editing all the way to my printed film. As long as you have a high resolution image wothout grayscale most of the settings are made in your printer settings to attain an opaque image...

half tones are more complicated but can be attained in photoshop as well

With dtg you can print directly from photoshop. As far as being able to design in it, if you can make it look good in photoshop then I guess you could but a better designing software would be either illustrator or corel draw as you can make vectors files which alot of screen printers prefer.

so you simply want to do the artwork in photoshop?

and you are not doing the printing, you will have the artwork sent to a screen printer to be screened onto shirts?

is this correct i'm not sure if I know exactly what you mean

if so, as ling as the artwork source is 150dpi, or of high enough resolution then photoshop is fine to do the color separations and art preparation

but if you aren't doing the printing, I'm sure your screen printer can prepeare the artwork for you...

If your not doing the printing yourself, you'll need to save each color as a seperate layer. Otherwise the printer will probably charge a fee for seperating each color. (At lest thats what I've heard for some places.)
