Default exporting pic for web use

I'm trying to export a photo for use in my web site. I removed the background and I need it at a high resolution. It seems the only way to export with no background is to export as a GIF file, although corel photo paint states for photos, the best file type is JPG, and GIF is for type and line art. I did the web image optimizer in corel photo paint but the image always has the white box around it. When I save and export as a GIF there's no background but the image looks really bad.
Need help!!!

Have you tried exporting as a PNG file? You might get a little better luck with that.

Here is what I am trying to achieve, yet with a sharper image. I've seen other pics on sites with no backgrounds and they show as JPG's so it must be able to be done. I've tried exporting as PNG's also. I'll keep trying but the only format I've found to work is a GIF. Unfortunately not a very sharp image.

Ah. Okay, if it's a JPG's that you're seeing with no background on sites, what they did was make the background of the pic the same color as their website. It's not actually clear. JPG's can't have any clear pixels.

So if you have a site with a white background, make the background of your image white, or if your site is black, make the background of your pic black.

Good luck!

Now that I look at the pic they used on the template, they did put the pic on a patterned background the same as the background on the site. I was able to export my pic as a PNG and I get the better resolution, however, now I have a very thin white line around the image where the background does not butt right up against the image. So frustrating. I guess I'll try and create the same background they have.

Thanks for the help

I was able to use part of the pages background so I think I solved my problem. The pic looks good but I'd still like it to be a little sharper. I'll play around with it some more later.

Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.

If you feather the edges of your foreground layer a little, it might look a little more convincing, but otherwise it looks good!
