Corel is better in my opinion - but I am bias - I've been a Corel Artist for going on 11 years now...

if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Either program will get you nice vector graphics.

here's an informative formus posting:

I haven't used Inkscape but Corel is quite popular and I find it very easy to use. Illustrator and Photoshop are of course very useful. One program I cannot say enough good things about is FlexiPro. It opens any file type and will resave to any other - more than Corel, illustrator, etc. Amazing program.

I prefer Corel Draw over inkscape because there is more infor, more tutorials and more support. I have used Corel since version 4...whenever that was

Unless you just hate running Micro$oft products, or just don't have extra money, I would go with CorelDraw... I hate Windows, and I'm forced to run it on my machine just because of the power of CorelDraw. Inkscape is.... like anything open source and *unix like... its complicated, things are hidden, you have to actually look for what you need... look really hard, with a magnifying glass...

But all in all, it really depends on what is easier to use for you, and what your budget can afford! I prefer CorelDraw because the GUI is much simpler, yet you still have all the functionality of Inkscape and more... though Inkscape offers some things that takes a couple extra hoops to acomplish in CorelDraw.

like I said, its all in a matter of preference, they both will get the same result in the end.

Follow the hords of Micro$oft or free yourself with Open Source!

I have both corel draw and illustrator and hands down corel draw is easier, I also downloaded inkscape just because I kept reading about people using it on here so I wanted to see what it was all about. Corel draw has alot more features than inkscape and is really easy to use.

I have been using corel draw since it first came out in the 80's and even though I have used other programs over the years I always come back to corel draw.

Inkscape has some similarities in use as far as its platform but there are many differences.

If your doing simple vector graphic designs and just starting off I would use inkscape.

Its pretty easy to use in my opinon. The only problem I had when I began using the program was when I did my color seps that have circular shape. If you print off the program it prints funky and sometimes makes your images look like ovals.

Just a tip once you get to the printing phase of your plates save them as pdf files and then print them from the acrobat printer. This way you will get the color seps without any registration problems. It will save you the heahache such as your print settings.

No complaints here just like every software it has its quarks.

If you want more help with the software shoot me an email.

just on a last note I did find a site that shows how to do color seps. Its not perfect but its a start as well.

Tutorial Number 7

I plan to do a tutorial on color seps since this version is almost decent because it doesnt discuss the white base you put underneath if your printing on darks.

It's nice to see that Inkscape is introducing colour seps, it was a killer for screenprinters.
Corel is pretty good and, once you've bought it, pretty cheap to keep updated.
