I use illustrator and there was a plug in for that with Cut Studio. Search the forums and i think you will find your answers. I cannot remember how I set mine up, but I did a search and found things to walk me through it.

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to use Photoshop with your new GX-24. A plotter needs vector information to be able to cut, and Photoshop, while having minimal vector capabilities, isn't compatible with a plotter. Most importantly, the GX-24 doesn't come with a driver that will work with Photoshop, only Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

There MAY be a solution for Inkscape, or at least you'd be able to import vector information from Inkscape (a free vector program) into Cut Studio, so you don't NEED to spend any more money, but I'd HIGHLY suggest getting Illustrator or CorelDRAW and working DIRECTLY from one of those two programs. Of course, there will prolly be someone that will say that's completely unnecessary, and they're prolly right.

Cheers, I guess I need to spend a bit more cash! I am thinking Corel Draw might be the way to go, unless anyone can suggest a "better price" equivelent product. What advantage would a dedicated software product such as Sign Lab/Fexi Sign have over Corel Draw other than price!

Cheers

Photoshop is not for cutters....I don't think...unless you create the jpg..in photoshop and use the software that comes with the roland and the optic eye to cut an out line...

Best bet is to get Corel Draw..biggest bang for the buck...to get your design ready to cut... You will need it vectorized and you can't really vector a photo...in the sense we use.

The software you mentioned is pricey. I would suggest learning cut studio which comes with the cutter..learn it and then you will know which of the other programs offer what you want..

Many thanks Charles, the cutter arrives this week and I will check out the software that is bundled with it as you suggest.
