Hi Guys, I'm relatively new to the t shirt business, so sorry if this is a dumb question. I have a Roland cutter and I want to do some shirts for a local restaurant. they sent me the .cdr file that the previous supplier did screen printing with. It looks fine apart from a few of the lines are way to skinny to cut...so I attempted to thicken them up a bit so that they would show when the design was cut...but when I click on the CutStudio button from my Corel X3....I still see the skinny lines...like I never did anything. I went back and checked the file in Corel, and it shows the revised file with the 'fatter' lines. What am I doing???? Any help would be so appreciated,
thanks,
Jacky
Are you just thickening the outline? When you go to wireframe view for your page, do you see the thick or thin lines? If you're seeing thin lines, what you need to do is convert the outline to an object under Arrange. You'll then need to delete the original curves before you send your job to your cutter or it will cut your new object and the old one, too.
Aha, I didn't know that! Yes, you're quite right, I still see skinny lines in wireframe.....so I'll give it a try..see if I can change them all to objects. Thank you so much!!!!!! I'll let you know how it goes.....
Thanks so much for your help. It worked out just great! ...but I lost my interent connection so I couldn't thank you - sorry 'bout that. Now I have another question, why is it that I can see an image just fine, then view it as a wireframe, I can see all kinds of things I don't need on there, I used the virtual segment tool to clean it up (all the unnecessary cuts) - and it looks good, but when I switch it back to a normal view - things are missing that I haven't touched? If I flip back once again to wireframe, I can still see them. Which one will be the right one...and what did I do wrong to cause this?
It sounds to me like you're accidentally deleting some of the new curves that you created by using the "Convert Outline to Object" tool.
Here's what happens when you use that tool:
First, let's say you have a circle with a fat outline. When you look at it in wireframe you just see the one circle.
Now you convert it's outline to an object. In Enhanced view, you won't see anything different, but when you switch to Wireframe view, suddenly you'll see THREE circles! The inner most circle and the outer most circle are your outline, which is now a combined shape (two circles as one object). The MIDDLE circle is your original circle, and if you select just that circle in wireframe view, move it to the side, then go to enhanced view, you won't see anything. It has no fill and no outline.
THAT is the shape you want to delete. The middle one.
