my Dad had some jackets made.. he paid the guy money for the artwork. he custom made a font for the jackets.. paid for the art work. and had jackets made. he wont give my dad the artwork he did for them. he wanted the digital format and refuses. he wants them to only go to him for silkscreen and embroidery.. is this legal.. shouldnt he give him the digital format. since he paid for it.
If he indeed paid for the artwork he should get it. Double check to see if it was a screen or setup charge he paid for, that will ususally be charged every time, regardless of existing artwork.
These kind of details should have been worked out before they even started. As someone who provides service to people, I do understand the side of the printer/designer. At lot of printers operate this way. Did your dad pay him for his time and labor on the design part?
