Im sorry rodney,
I couldnt find any thread on this.
I have a black and white design, but the objext is one solid block, covering my other image. How do i select just the black design and remove the white background from that image? On CorelDRAW.
Thanks

What type of file is it? if it is a vector file you click on the object, then go to the top on arrange and ungroup. that should seperate your file into pieces so you can now select each section. If it is not a vector file, you can convert it to bitmap and then do the trace on it, this will recreate it into a vector file that you can then edit. Hope this helps, if I didnt explain it well let me know and I will try to give a better detail.
once you convert it to bitmap you then have to trace it. after you trace it, take the copy that is the result of the trace and then ungroup that. Then you should be able to edit out the part you dont want. Do you know how to use the trace in corel draw?
ok I will explain it to you. After you have converted to bitmap, go to the bitmaps menu and go down to trace bitmap, I usually will use high quality image as I think it traces best. Once it opens the trace part of the program make sure to have the remove backround selected and you can also adjust the smoothing and detail sliders but you shouldnt have to for just a logo. Then hit ok and it will trace and leave a new copy on top of the copy you had on your workspace. Now you can move the new copy to the side and remove the original copy. You can just delete the original copy off of there, just make sure when you save, to save as a different name so it doesnt alter your original copy. so now that you have removed the original copy go and click on the new copy you have made, go to arrange and click ungroup. It will now seperate all of the pieces of the graphic and you can remove what you dont want on it just by deleting that portion. Let me know if you have any problems.
You may also try to right click the bitmap inside Draw and select edit which will open the bitmap in Photopaint. From there, use the magic wand mask tool, increase your contrast, set the tolerance to about 10, and then click on either the black or white section and cut it away. If you happen to cut away the black, then you may paste it in a new document.
