seeking illustrator photo tip

Default seeking illustrator photo tip

i was trying to figure out the best way to take a grayscale photo and making it into b&w vector art. i'm trying to create an effect similar to this... http://www.dinghead.com/newdinghead/large/hongkong.jpg

First take it into photoshop and go to the tool bar, click on image --- mode ---grayscale. Then adjust the contrast to make it pretty high, you might have to play with this awhile to get the desired effect. Then go to image ---adjust ---threshold, and it'll turn everything into hard black and white, you can move the slider until you get the look you want.

Then finally you'll need a program that can convert bitmaps to vector. You can use Illustrator CS2, or I use the built in tracing program in Corel X3 which is the best I've seen so far.

If you have Illustrator CS2, definitely try the very-customizable tracing tool. It's awesome.
