Default some questions about silk screen from a starter

Hi there,
i'm from a third world country and i'm planning to start a business in rural areas (which means that i will be limited by the area's available supplies)

this is what i know so far:
I know that i need to buy a silk screen, brush it with some kind of a green paint-like in it. Then i have to place a transparent like special plastic with an image using a laser jet printer. Can I use a Deskjet printer? After I place the transparent plastic like paper with an image, i need to put a glass on top of it, i will expose it to a light. Then after i expose it for an hour, all i need is to wash it with high pressure water. Then the image will appear in the silk screen, all i have to do is wipe it with paint of my choice. Remove the silk screen and wait for it until it dries off. Then the t-shirt is ready.

What I need to know from you are the following:

So I can say to the store what i need:
1.
green -> what do you call this?
2.
transparent -> what is this?
3.
light -> how will i say it to the store? what type of bulb do i need?
4.
paint-> what type of paint is it? how do you call it?
5. T-Shirt-> What do you call the type of blank t-shirts that are thick? Not the same t-shirts we use indoor.

Others:
6. Is there any other concerns and tips in silk screen printing that you want to add?
7. I also want to know how to make a fading effect in t-shirts from top to bottom. (example from red to yellow)
8. what are the kits/materials that i need to make it fade? if it's a dye, what sort/type of dye should i ask from the store?

Quote:
hello there!
i'm from the philippines. I've learned the simple way of making a silk-screen t-shirt.

i want to start a small t-shirt printing business but first i must learn how to implement my concept in a prototype t-shirt. I already know how to print in silk screen, but i don't know what are the names of materials needed so i can say it to the store who supplies those materials. what i mean is, for example i know that i need to stick a special kind of glue... but i don't know what specific TYPE of glue is it. what i want to know are the names of the materials needed. Also i wanted to learn how to make a fading t-shirt, (below its color is red and then it fades up into another color, i'm not talking about a multi-colored tie dye) Can anyone in here help me? Can you point me to the right direction if there's a topic here about the materials I needed?

thank you

cheers!
musang

Default Re: some questions about silk screen from a starter

ok mate, im just startin aswell just look on the net for all your answers, specially youtube for screen press tutorials,

but basically as far as i know...

green is emulsion which u need so u can burn the image through

the transparent is the transfer paper, it goes in your printer and you print your design onto it

the light depends on what watt u need i wud go with a 500w+ the brighter the better because it wnt take as long to burn, but you have to get the height right depending on what bulb you got and lighting conditions

the paint is just fabric paint search google youll find loads

as for the t-shirts wht the hell u mean? lol

the rest of your Q's i dunno as i aint even done one screen press yet

^^^ i cud be wrong on all of this but its just what ive picked up on slowly in the past week
