Question help separating text from jpg to convert to curves

Hey all,
I just got corel x3 and am still in the learning stages. I have several customer drawn logos saved in jpeg format. These logos have text in them and some of them I don't know what font they used. How can I go about separating the text so that I can send the files to someone like First Edition to have it printed?

Thanks

you need to rebuild the files. Almost guaranteed the jpegs are not of good quality and not good to use as a working file.

I tell all my customers if they cannot offer the name of the font used, that I will get as close as possible. With the million fonts out there, it could take days to match the font.

You can also try posting the image here to see if others can ID the font or use WhatTheFont : MyFonts

Thanks for the quick response fluid. I figured it was going to take rebuilding the files.

Tom, thanks. I found your site awhile back. Unfortunately I still hook up and dialup at 24 kbps so it takes a loooooooong time to download and watch video files. I usually don't have time to wait an hour for something to download.

If I happen to get around a wireless connection, I'll be sure and download all your tutorial for future use.

Thanks
Craig

What you can do is (1) import the image, (2) convert to bitmap, (3) trace it as a high quality image (deleting the original and removing the background). Then Ungroup it.

Now, you have the image seperated from the lettering and you can modify (colors, fonts, add, subtract) as needed.

Hope that helps!
