Default glass fx

Well I have been playing a bit today with Corel trying to emulate a glass bubble look. Looks better in Corel than in the sample below. Any suggestions for a better image please post up. Any comments are welcome as well.

Hi David, that's a cool pic/idea for a logo to start with

Did you create it in vector first before converting it to raster?

I have no experience with using Corel myself, but using Photoshop and Illustrator instead as long as I know, and I'm a big fan of creating glass (orb) and other effects in Photoshop only.

For creating a more detailed glass effect you could make use of more layers with different smaller sizes of the orb you use and colour them white. Play around with transparancy settings and overlay options (if they exist in Corel) of those layers to create a more realistic glass effect.
Personally I would do some fx on the tribal and fill the wings with a cool metal plate pattern, with or without rust

Cheers, L00T

Yes it was a vector file, just changed it for the post. I am still working on the orb glass idea. The wings are basically logo elements off an HD logo. The idea is going to be a series eventually with an amber and spider combo as well as a beetle. I didnt really have time with the wings just yet. I want them inlayed with scroll work Thanks for the ideas.

You need to use some interactive transparencies to add highlights and shadows/bevels

Is there a way in Corel to just make an image transparent via percentage? My sign program allows this but in Corel I use the tool which creates a light and dark side.

I like the textures yet the conical part of the fill seems a little funky.

adding some outlines, converted to objects with transparencies applied will deepen the beveled/metallic effect. - if that is the effect your after

Kewl no the less yet I liked the idea of the glass/button for the center

The glass fx will be back. I wanted to work a bit on the skull and whats behind it. I need some good wire textures to play with.
