Default when to use Photoshop and when to use Illustrator

I would like to know when one only needs to use Photoshop and when one would need to use Illustrator when designing for a T-shirt.

Can one soley use Photopshop? Only on certain types of designs? Which types?

Thanks

if you know what your doping and you have a printer that can separate raster images photoshop can handle it all.

Normally
Photoshop - pictures and some special effects (thing vector cannot achieve)
Vector - mostly simple spot colors, text, etc.

This is the norm but not limited as many vector artists can create what most do in photoshop (photo realistic in vector)

hey..basically photoshop is used for editing images that are in jpeg. bmp pdf formats....simply photos...but for tee designing i suggest go for illustrator or coreldraw..they are ultimate.....
i havebeen using them for long.... illustrator helps you in creating vector images and images in chosen no. of colors....

my vote for illustrator...

im not sure sridhar...
i've been a vector artist for 10 years and allot of my favorite shirt designs are done in photoshop... well i don't know i guess it depends on my mood. one thing is for sure your printer must really know what they are doing when it comes to seperating a photoshop file casuse it can really get messy if they dont.
allways good to ask or a soft proof before they print.
