So I've been trying to learn this program for like a month now, and there's just too many tuturial pages, and little info with what to do for beginners. Did everyone just learn on their own?
Photoshop elements has less functions than the full version photoshop, so it might be easier to learn. But I agree, photoshop seems very difficult to start with. I'm trying to learn photo-paint which is included in the CorelDraw package.
Cody..
It really seems hard at first.. but that is mainly because there are so many features.. IMHO the thing to do.. is start with baby steps.. and instead of at first trying to learn it all... learn one step at a time.. open a photo or graphic and fiddle around with it.. to see what does what.. the help feature on photoshop is pretty helpful..
Hey Cody,
PS does have a very high learning curve and is an extremely complicated and deep program. I am self taught, been using it for 6 years now and still don't know everything about it, in fact it seems I discover things almost every week. Bottom line though, once you get it figured out, it is the most powerful program on the market for designers and illustrators that I know of. I worked in a graphics dept. with people who knew the program, and received a lot of info from them, I supplemented that with PS Classroom in a book, and PS Studio techniques which give step by step tutorials that explain tool usage, formatting. Photo shop Cafe has great tips and tutorials, basic stuff, easy to learn things which can be applied to many different creations. Photoshop Tutorials from PhotoshopCAFE -free Photoshop training Colin Smith is a master of sorts, has written many books, tutorials, etc. There are many different sites which offer help in the form of tutorials, just google them up. You will learn by doing, and it is worth it.
Self taught for 2 years now and I learn everyday as well. Start off with the photoshop classroom in a book series for whichever version you have. Photoshop is not the scary bear you think it is. Once you have the fundamentals down with layers and resizing it is not so bad. Its definitely something you will learn in two months though. Start by going to Google and typing in photoshop tutorials and follow some of those to learn some basics. Good-tutorials.com is a good place to go and also look for a photoshop forum and good luck!
Stick with it. It will take some time to learn. I have been working with PhotoShop and Corel DRAW for 11+ years and still learn something new daily.
Check out some of the books at your local book store. I believe there are ones like photoshop for Dummies, etc. Might help more than the online tutorials at first
A month. Keep going and dont give up, it's going to take much longer than that to really get comfortable with the program. Once you do, it will be second nature.
Just think about it this way... did you learn to talk, write, or read in a month? Probably not, but you didnt give up and look at you now! I'm sure you do all of them just fine, and in time photoshop will come just as naturally.
photoshop is like you starting driving a car once you know how to drive the rest is history dont give up......im using the software for six years now.. every single day i learn something new.....good luck !
