Question hp 9800 and scanner

I am a broker only, but I am looking for some advice for a output device.
When a artist sends me the design I need something to output. I like the idea of not using vellum and am curious about the HP 9800 wide format. Has anyone had success with this printer and what film did you use? Where do you by the film?
Also I think I need a flatbed scanner. What is the minimum requirements that I should look for in a scanner? I do not do alot of my own artwork but I run across the need every so often. Any advice would help.
Thank you in advance
