Default Vectorize a photo of a map?

Hi,
I'm new to this. I want to make a t-shirt of a single color 'map' of a peninsula. No details like roads or cities, just a solid color outline with a natural coastline. Can I take a picture of the artwork I have, then send it to a service to get it turned into a vector file? I'm wondering about resolution. I don't think I'll be able to get a 300 dpi original photo, but maybe I don't need it? There will be some lettering also. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

well you shouldnt need the resolution to be too high - just as long as you can see the details in the pic.

and yep there are services out there that will do it for you. better yet you could learn to do it yourself via some online tutorials cause it isnt too hard and you'd save yourself some money in the future. or if you have a friend with a little bit of design skill they could do it easily.

good luck

if you search clipart site youll probably find this already in vector.

I agree on the resolution, shouldnt matter if your going to recreate. Just import into your app and start using the program tools to recreate the map.

i would say although res may not matter tooo much its gonna matter a little.. if its a low res photo then it needs to be a decent size... problem with maps (allot of experience) is that when you want the text detail it gets tricky...
p.s. i can do this if you are still looking... drop me an email
