Default Need Help: how to use the garment color in the t-shirt design

Hi Everyone. Ok so a lot of popular tshirts use a technique where the color of the tshirt "bleeds" or fills up the graphic or part of the graphic on the shirt. I would really like to know how to do this as it would be extremely helpful. If someone could link me to a tutorial or leave some simple instructions on how to do this. I will be using Illustrator.

Here is an example of what I am talking about

Thanks!

this is just a basic screen print by the looks of it. all you need to do is create the image in illustrator exactly as you want it to appear on the shirt. when the screen is created it will only let ink flow through to the areas where the design is - not tricky at all really!

you can either leave it white in your art or create compound obejcts or clipping paths also.

In whatever software you make your t-shirt design in, you just use a one color for the outline (like black or purple) and then leave the t-shirt color blank (white).

Then just tell your screen printer that the areas that are white are going to be the garment color and the areas that are black will be purple (or blue or whatever color you want).

pretty easy... do a drawing and have no background (or default white) then tell your printer what color shirts you want it on... simple as that.
