Default Not Printing Dark Enough

I have both Corel and Illustrator. For some reason I can't get my designs to print out dark enough in Illustrator so I transfer them to Corel. Corel prints out nice and dark. Any suggestions?

It is probably the way they both handle the color. Either in the file or when printing. What I would do is check the CMYK or RGB values in both programs and see if they are different.

Stick with Corel :-) Actually Robert is correct. More than likely has to do with your CM settings

Is this usually the issue with all printers that are not printing dark enough?

How to find out how to adjust those settings?

I don't have those programs but I have a c88+ epson printer that I would like to get to print darker.

The usual answer is that color inkjet inks are CMYK, transparent and designed to work on WHITE paper, not designed to make opaque positives.

To make the positive opaque to make screens, you have to customize the ink deposit until it stops UV-A light.

Also, when printing positives or transparencies, there is a setting in the printer and you need to specify you are printing a transparency. That helps. Also you can check if you are using Black or Registration color.

To go darker on Black using OEM Durabrite ink use these settings
on your C88. I've got CX4800 that uses same carts at C88 but not the high capacity black.

Color Controls - Default
+1 Contrast
+ 3 Saturation
+ 5 Cyan
+ 5 Magenta

- 15 Yellow

And use the photo setting. Normal is too light and subject to banding.

I actually use -25 Yellow when predominant part of my design is black.

Actually, I use my Epson 900 (very old) that's loaded with
inksupply.com "Double Density Black" when I need black-black.
But, my Epson 900 doesn't print on to Iron-all/Translution paper.
Ink goes on too heavy.

Settings above take care of greenish color you may get when heat pressing.

If your market can bear the cost...try out textile inks from colorstarink.com
Give Todd a ring, he's very nice. Members of Yahoo group "heat_transfers_for_desktop_printers" have been reporting great results
with Translution. No fading, super crisp bright colors. I can't justify the nearly double expense as I just stocked up on 3rd party pigment inks.

Cheers,
Susan H.
