Hey,
I currently use CorelDRAW 8. I want to get CorelDRAW X3. Can you upgrade from Version 8? or would I have to buy The full version?

Willy,

I upgraded from 8 to X3 last year. No problems and I really like X3 better.

If I go from Corel 12 to x4 is that a good move? Is that just an upgrade?

Yes X3 was an enormous upgrade!

yes, X4 is a great move, plenty of added goodies and Powertrace is much better. I am hoping in X5, they really beef it up.

Here is a great idea...why don't Corel and Adobe go out and buy macros and actions from their writers/creators and put them in as part of the program? That would be nice.

I have both X3 and X4 and I find X4 actually runs faster and as Brad says the Powertrace is better. Quite often my X3 would crash and corrupt the file I was working on and guess what? Hours of work down the drain and uninstalling and re-installing X3 everytime is a pain in the @$$.

you wont be sorry. You will also see that thee are highlights on all the new additions. When you are tired of those highlights you can disable them.

use trace to convert a bitmat to a vector image. works best on simple bitmaps. don't expect even remotely good vectors on bitmaps with transitions and a high number of colours.

personally I rarely use trace. 99% of the time if I do its to render a quick vector of a simple line art I drew by hand. Everything else is drawn in Corel using the tools
