Default make freehand art look professional

Hi Everyone,

I am stuck in a place and dont know where to go or what to do. I have designed some art for shirts that I drew on paper. Is it really hard for an artist to take my design and make it look professional. Can an artist look at a design and create the same concept only better. I'm working with a graphic designer and it from what he is telling me its a big deal. I am getting very frustrated and the art is really holding me up. If I could make the designs look professional, I would do it myself, however I have no artistic ability at all Looking for any help and advice I can get. Also I am in a huge show at the end of September and as of right now I have no finished art to send to the printer Thanks in advance to everyone here who has any advice for me..

Dena

This is a loaded question. It's about the same as saying you're not a musician but you want to write a hit song. Most people in the graphic industry have a knack and a talent to create. I would suggest taking art classes, but it's still no guarantee. It seems the artist you confided in just wasn't up to the task. Ask around for a different one that could help you. Most important-have the confidence to trust your own eyes and clean it up as necessary. Everyone's visual style is a bit different. Get over the fact that your art has to look as polished as everyone else's-it doesn't! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the imput, however I disagree with taking an art class. Maybe a computer class might help or get with someone who knows how to used Corel Draw. I have sent my drawings to have a logo made and within one day I got an awesome professional logo exactly what I was looking for. I believe everyone has their own talent and art is not my strong point so I wanted to find someone who was strong in the art department. Thanks for the advice and taking time to write back.

Have you asked that person to do your T-Shirt designs? That might be a way to go.

No, I think they only do logo's. I have found a graphic designer locally who I took my art work to and it is really working out great..So I foung out that if you find the right person you can take a design that you draw and someone can make it look awesome. But thanks to everyone for their help

That's right. There's a whole industry dedicated to creating professional designs from your sketches or ideas. It's called freelance graphic design.

If you can't find one person to do it, there are hundreds and thousands of others to choose from who probably can.

It doesn't have to be someone local. You can scan the drawings and email them to a graphic artist online. There are places online to hire freelance artists like ifreelance.com, elance.com, guru.com, designoutpost.com, etc.

Rodney, You Are Awesome
Thats great information to know. Its always good to have a few graphic artist's just to get maybe a different idea from each of them. We are getting really excited about our t-shirts and cant wait to see the first ones finished! This is my first experience in the business and loving it! Will let you know how everything comes out and if I can figure it out ..I will post my finished product on this site for everyone's opinion...Thanks a lot everyone......
