I really have no knowledge of illustration or graphic design but was wondering which software title you would recommend to do some basic cartoon illustration on a Mac?? THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!

hi, welcome to the forum.
do a search for photoshop & illustrator here on the forum. i don't know if you can get corel draw for mac, but search for it, also. these are the most popular amongst designers & forum users.
don't expect to draw cartoons automatically with these programs, though. you still need the artistic talent and knowledge of how to use these programs before you can create anything.

Wow, that's a can of worms! Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Draw plus Macromedia Feehand and Jasc Paint Shop are all industry standards, however the learning curves on these are long and tedious. I've been using them for many years now and I still feel like I could learn a lot more. It takes a serious commitment to become proficient at any of them, but in the end, the effort is quite rewarding.

Well... you can use CD 11 for Mac. I've tried and tried to use it on the Mac.... just didnt comply with me. A bit outdated but should still work.

Probably only Illustrator.
I don't know of an app to help with drawing skills, but you can go to barnes and noble crafts section and check out their clipart and royalty free image books. You can drag the image/images you need off the cd onto a layer, then lock the layer. Create a new layer above it and use the pen tool to place a point at all the important curves/corners/etc. Then you can use the bezier handles to sculpt the lines into the picture you are trying to create. You will probably need to spend some time with some online tutorials or books to get familiar with the beziers however. I found them to be more difficult in Illustrator than any other graphics program that also uses them. Hope this helps!
