Looking for a "light steel" or "heather gray" pattern
I'd like to give customers a better look at what the design looks like on light steel (Hane's version of heather gray effectively). Does anyone have a pattern?
The one I used from S&S does not turn into a nice pattern... it looks horrible.
Re: Looking for a "light steel" or "heather gray" pattern
if you can get a hold of a hanes fabric swatch book, they have a pms color match for every color t-shirt they offer...except the heather colors. it's a good tool to have, though.
try making a gray background in PS and adding a pattern overlay. maybe you can create the texture yourself.

Sadly that's what I've tried -- with horrible results.

if you are using Photoshop... open a new document with the mode set to Greyscale. Fill with the shade of grey you want. Goto Render>Noise>add noise. Then goto Filter>Blur>motion blur. That should give you a decent heathered looking texture.
You will probably want to play with the noise and motion blur sliders to get it the way you want it.

I just tried using grey as my foreground and white as my background color. went to Filter>Render>Fibers.......Set the Variance all the way to the right and the strength all the way to the left and that seemed to make a good texture also.
