Default Prepping a photo image for screening

Hey all, ive been reading alot from this site in the past few months. Right now i am trying to figure out what i have to do to prep an image for screening. The image is not a created graphic...it is an actual photo of someone. I've seen some people do it and have been told that i have to print using halftones. The thing is I dont know the correct way to go about this.

The picture is in black and white and its currently in photoshop format.

Need some more information.

What type of inks do you use?
What mesh frames do you have?
What color shirts will this be printed on?
What is the resolution of the image? Is it truly a Black and white image (1 bit) or is it a greyscale image?
What software are you using?

Ok..sorry bout that

Im just a designer...i dont really know much in terms of details of the screen printing of the shirt.

I do know i am only trying to use 1 spot color (black) on a white tshirt. It is a greyscale image and i am using both photoshop and illustrator. I started all my designs in photoshop and realized i was going to run into alotta problems so im tryin to do everything in illustrator...which im not too familiar with.

No need to leave photoshop with a photo. Just make sure your image is 300 dpi at print size.
Using curves darken the darks and lighten the lights in the image.
Usually 90-100% range will fill in solid sometimes 80-100 and most of the time you'll loose the 0-10% range as well during the burn.
Thats about it other than normal image correction and adjusting contrast ,etc. If there are many like tones in the image it will be tough to reproduce using one color. best to add some contrast yet thats about it
