Default Need some help: recieved a .ai file that I can't open

I recieved a .ai file that I can't open. I get this error message when trying to open in coreldraw12. If anyone can help me please leave an email address and I will send.

The error message says something about not being saved without PDF content.
Am completely lost since I have never seen a message like this before.

Thanks,
Darrell

I think you need it to be an ".eps" format to open it.

If you received the file in .ai format that mean the file could only be opened with Adobe Illustrator, if you want to open it with corel just ask the fellow who send the file to convertit to a .eps file , a format who is some kind of universal for all programs almost.

Have you tried importing it? I dont use coreldraw much, but if I get a problem with a file not being saved properly in Illustrator, I try to either import it, or export it, and try a different format like psd. I also use the file and place command if it is corrupted. Again, I don't know if this will work in Coreldraw.
