Default Live Paint after Live Trace ?

After I live trace a photo in black and white, and then convert it to Live Paint, the color options are taken away. Is there anything I can do about this? Or is that just the way it is if you use black and white or grayscale, not color in live trace.

I don't know much about Photoshop, could you add your color with that if the live paint won't give you that option?

I hardly ever use Live Paint myself and apply colours in another way. But this is what I know of it; it's mainly handy for line drawings when only strokes are vectorised and no fill colours. Don't expand your Live Traced pic and make sure you have your swatches palette enabled on your workspace. Now you can click on the Live Paint button, hoover over a fill area and click to choose it, then click the desired colour in the swatches palette

So are you saying that Live Trace fills are vectorized and that is why live paint doesn't offer color options?

I know how to use live paint normally, it is just not working for me after tracing.

Just curious, how do you apply colors is another way, I'm not seeing how??
