Default Illustrator or CorelDraw help: how to color an image?

i have both illustrator cs and corel x3, now iam tring to color a vector image and was wondering how do i got about it, do i trace it then what do i do? and also i tried to do the live paint in illustrator, but its only allowing me to do black and white, i want to color it so i can see how it comes out, any help?? thnx

Are you using your color or swatchs pallet? If you don't see it on your screen, Drop down window and pick color.

In corel just select a closed object and click a color form the color palette.
Use Pantone solid colors if at all possible as most require pms colors.

I thought with vector files, the colors between objects don't run together?

They dont run. If an object isnt closed you need to close it to fill with color in Corel, unless Fill open objects is check under customizations. I do not think this feature is a default setting so this cannot be an issue.

Send me the cdr file with an explanation of what you are wanting to do/color. Ill take a look and will send back to you.
