We work as freelancers, designing t-shirt graphics as per the clients needs. Currently we are bidding for some international clients. Nevertheless, we go at a fix with the quotation, as we aren’t well versed with the international market. What are the pricing standards in the US & Europe market? How much can be quoted for the art that have displayed on our site
We have added our url as a signature still if u cant get through , have attached the design file. If you can help in quoting the price for such type of art in the international market.
most will base pricing on useage - if you plan to sell them to any takers as a stock design that will reduce the each price but hopefully you will sell a lot of them. If you are offerening them exclusively then you get into royalties etc as well as a larger up front price. If you are commisioned to do original designs all this should be clearly agreed upon upfront, especially intended usage and royalties if any.
Camconcay,
We do original customised designs, but as you said if we are offering the client exclusively we'll get royalties, instead won't it b better to sell out at a higher upfront itself??
Can u help out with any resources where we can pitch for designing & get paid a good high amount for our art??
better is relative I guess - if you think your client will sell tons of a design better for you would be royalties, better for them would be buy out royalty free and you release ALL rights. I don't know of any resources and most will be at best someones advice - essentially with the internet in play, art is getting more and more devalued - most customers (shirt printing customers I mean) assume it's going to be free and get mad if you suggest any art fees. With sites that take bids (freelance sites etc) I have put jobs up and have gotten bids back in the range of $50 to $3500 for the same posting/job.
With royalties you have to have some way to track sales - very difficult under any circumstance but if you are not close geographically to the client then it is even harder. Whatever you do you need to have a very specifically worded contract with your buyers and make sure they understand the terms and you have it properly executed before giving over ANY art.
Art based Agents (for illustration artists) often find artists good paying gigs, but expect to pay a fee of between 15-40% depending on the agent. Another plus is they usually keep track of billing and royality hastles.

You can do a search for 'illustration agents' on the web. A good article on the pros and cons of going through agents: Strategies: Agents and Representatives
There are some good web sites listed on other threads in this forum that cover freelanceing as well....
