Default RIP,printer,designing>?

Ok guys. I have been looking all around for this information and my perspective is still a little blurred. I need a new printer for my computer. I am getting into screen printing and need to be able to do all sorts of color seperations and fades.. etc.
-As far as I know, I either need a laser printer (no RIP software) or an inkjet and a RIP software. Is this correct?
-Whats the price difference in the two options?
-Whats the cheapest (and good quality) RIP program out there?
-Which will be easier to maintain and whats the price difference of ink/whatever laser printers use?
-And last but not least, do they both produce good quality shirts?

Thanks guys I know that is alot of questions! I need alot of help!

Bryce

What type of forum searches have you done? The answers to those questions have been posted a few times in the forum, so it could be just a matter of changing your search terms.
