I am currently looking for a good program that can be used to change the format of a file to another file. I had a great shareware program for this that could change a BMP to a Vector file but when my computer crashed I lost it and can't remember where I got it. Does anyone have any suggestions out there?
I just recently downloaded Wintopo shareware and used it with decent results, although I've only converted one image so far the results seem to be good and easy to obtain.
I have not tried this, but you may find it useful. I didn't have the time to look into it enough, but it's a program called Inkscape at http://www.inkscape.org/index.php
It's a free vector based image program. It looks interesting at least.
Another prog I don't think many know has this function is Flash. It's supposed to be better than any of these little freeware proggies we're thowing out there.
For converting raster to raster, try Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) - Freeware. It doesn't make vectors from rasters, but it can canvert to nearly any raster image format out there as well as some other nice basic features like resizing.
