How can I cut out a part of an image with other than using the crop tool? Is there a way to do that by outlining precisely where you want? The crop tool in Corel only draws a box, I want to be able to highlight manually the area (curves etc) and than cut it out. I was hoping the knife tool would do that, but so far I have not been able to use it with anything (it keeps telling me that the feature cannot be used). And the help page of Corel does not have a lot of info on the knife tool.
Thank you guys in advance
draw your shapes/area you want to keep by making a closed path. Create a rectangle a lil larger than the original bitmap. Trim the "crop" shape to the rectangle and fill the new shape with white Now your image should looked croped. Select all and convert to a bitmap (300 dpi). Use the bitmap color mask to make the bg transparent.
You could also take the image into Photopaint and create your mask there, probably a lot easier yet I do not use photopaint so I cannot offer steps on how to do it there.
Thank you guys.
Richard I'm going to try that. I don't have my pc in front of me right now, so it's a little hard to visualize your steps and the outcome. But I'll see what happens when I have my computer.
Ronnie I agree - eraser it the next best thing. I also like the one that cuts out sections of the image (i can't remember the name of the tool). It can be really handy depending on the type of the image you are working on.
If you double click on the image in corel v12, it will launch photo paint. then choose image - cutout. Then, change the nib size to whatever woorks best. Also choose a color for highlight & fill. Then zoom in on the area you want to cut out. Select the knife tool & began drawing a outline around the image as close as possible. When finished, select the fill tool (paint bucket), and click inside the outline area. then click FINISH. Walah! You can the use the eraser to clean up any areas you missed. You can also re-do your outline by choosing the eraser in the cut out process.
