search the forums for software. youll find all sorts of posts on this subject. Software choice is a per person basis. SOme like Corel , some like Illy and others like the free ones out there. There is no best software. Out of all of them I would say look into both CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator. Download the trials abd play with each to decide which is best for you.
Depending on what kind of decoration you are doing, you may also want to look into add-on softwares like SmartDesign...it provides you vector (ready-to-cut) artwork...just installs automatically to your CorelDraw...
I have to say Corel if you have a PC it gives you by the far the most bang for your buck... hands down.
Especially if you are screen printing with spot colors. $1200 for a Creative Suite or $379 for Corel Draw which comes with a ton of fonts, PhotoPaint which is not far from PhotoShop, Font Navigator and just about everything you need to bang out quality artwork raster or vector all day long.
Not to step on anyones toes.. Illustrator and Abobe products are great and I do use them all the time believe me. But a bit pricey if you are just starting out. Thats my 2 cents anyway.
I saw that you were trying to isolate an image. If you do go Adobe, In Photoshop you can use the QUICK MASK tool to remove an image out of a background. But i'm sure they all have ways to do it...
i download free trials of the these and none of them do what i need. I need to cut around an object in a photo and pull that image out of the picture.
There are at least four different ways to do that in Photoshop. I'm sure there would be many ways to do it in CorelDraw as well, and I'd be surprised if Gimp can't handle it also.
I use serif draw plus 4.0.ITs 8th version as already arrived but since i cant afford to pay thorugh the internet i've downloaded the free version.check it out at FreeSerifSoftware - free software downloads its easy to use and does almost what photoshop can do.
i use serif pageplus8. it's a great little free software which does colour separations for basic flat colours. also draw plus 5, inkscape, xara, gimp, photoplus 8. All of these are free from computer magazine disks you find in the newsagent. Go with what you like and feel comfortable with.
