Default Drawing artwork given to me for tees...

I have a customer.. who has a pencil drawing on paper - and wants it on a t-shirt - several t-shirts even =) (woot!) However.. I am not sure HOW to start this at all... He said I could add color to the plane in the drawing... I guess my first question... even if I tried to do it in vinyl.. all of the lines are thin from it being drawn in pencil.. and i'm not sure how that would work.. when I think about getting custom plastisol.. I know they need workable artwork as well... So What would be my first steps besides scanning the image into the computer??...

Any help would be appreciated!!

#1 scan the image into your vector software, lock on a layer and start tracing the image using the various tools in the program.
If you creat using closed paths you can filo with color as per your clients suggestion.
#2 send to imgo to a vectorizing company

Hi Ambrelee,
my sister had a pencil drawing done on white paper. We took the drawing and scanned it and then printed it with a DTG printer. The result was awesome. It looks like a pencil was used on the shirt itself.

Also there is another thread with more info here:
from pencil to shirt

Also later I inverted the images and printed it on a black T. Here is the thread with the links to the samples:
from pencil to shirt

Do they want it to look like a pencil drawing or like a heavy line art picture?

firstly, i suggest you find out how many he wants it printed. personally, that would affect how i was going to create the artwork. if its screen printed you don't need it vector. therefore a scan is sufficient. if you need vector, then scan it (with contrast up a little so the line comes out v.black). if you have Illustrator CS2, do a livetrace on it and get it vector. if the quality from livetrace isn't good enough or you don't have CS2, you will have to go over it yourself using the pen tool. hope that helps.
