Great, I look forward to seeing your entry

You don't have to put the design on a template, but there's a few good ones at istockphoto here.

I think there are free ones floating around here as well. There's one in this free plugin from advancedartist.

PS. Remember you need just 5 posts in the forum to be eligible to enter

If you go to threadless.com/submit they have free templates for download in .psd format and in all colors that major t-shirt manufacturers use.

what color shirt are these going to be printed. Also when submitting the design does it have to be on a shirt template or could it jusy be the design itself.

You get to pick the shirt color as part of your design process

The submitted entry doesn't have to be on a shirt template, it can be just the design itself.

Just remember to let us know how your design is meant to be printed.

If it's supposed to be an all over print, then just make a note of that. If it has a specific print location on the shirt or it wraps around, include that information with your entry.

If your design wins, we'll figure out a way to get it printed

quick question: is gray necessarily considered its own separate color, or can it go under 'black'?? I know this is a long-stretch here, but my design uses grey for a couple parts (which I'm trying to see if it'd work without it), but then there's a shading thing going on which uses grey...ummm....what would that be, if it's a blend?

hey rodney, gotta question
i think i recall that you said that it has to be no more than 4 colors, and also that each person can only submit one design.
my delima is that i have a idea for a design, but it uses multi-colors, it would probably be better heat pressed with that Freedom method you were mentioning. so what i was thinking about doing was submitted the design in a full color version, and a version with about 3 or 4 colors. would this be ok or would it be looked at as two entries. its going to be the same design, just giving you the option of choosing which would be more reasonable to print,
if i was to by any chance in a million years, just so happen to be lucky enough to possibly win.

If your design is already at 4 colors, and you don't have gray as one of those 4 colors, then the gray would have to be made using halftones instead of a solid ink color.

So yes, gray is a color, but it can be made as a halftone of black and white in case you reach the 4 color limit.

The design will be screen printed, so we won't be able to take advantage of the "freedom" transfers for this project.

A design that "seems" to have a lot of colors can sometimes be broken down into 4 colors (depending on the art). I would suggest only submitting the design that is 3-4 colors.

Great. This is what I was thinking...halftones. I just wanted to make sure. I have 3 colors, then blk & grey. I don't have white as a color -oh wait, I do, but I forgot about it because it could be the default bkgrd of a tee. This color thing has gotten slightly confusing, with the blk/grey/wht spectrum. I hope I can assume this is okay? (can I submit is as is?)
Thanks!
