HAHAHA! you guys wont believe what I have done. Short story is i wrote down on my calender that competition was ending on March 4 at 11:59 was rushing last night to finish and sent in my submission at that exact time and sent in my work worrying if it was sent in on time, apperantly it is exactly 1 month early. But once again cant wait to see results.

The design should be 4 total colors maximum

So that could be a 4 color design on the front and no design on the back. A 1 color design on the front and 3 colors on the back. 2 colors on the front and 2 colors on the back. Or 1 color on the front and 1 color on the back. Or one color on the front and no colors on the back. An all over print of 2 colors, etc.

Nope. 4 colours would more rightly be called four screens, one per colour (normally it's the same thing, but in this case it wouldn't be).

The one on the back would need its own screen, and for the shirt to be flipped over to print on the back (which also often attracts an additional small fee).

So four colours on the front and one on the back (even of the same colour as one of the four) would actually be five screen charges, which is above the set limit for this particular design brief.

Basically, start counting again if you flip sides

I had an idea for the competition next year. Maybe 2 or 3 people can team up and do a design together and split the prize. Might be fun, and it would be interesting to see how different design styles look on the same shirt.

Nothing to preclude you doing that this year, is there? Just a matter of finding others who are ok with collaborating and sharing the glory if you win. Personally, collaborating doesn't appeal to me, especially with more than one other person, but each to their own...

Yep, Lewis pretty much covered it. Even using the same color on the back as one of the 4 colors on the front would bump it to 5 colors.

How would you split a 30 GB ipod? Maybe 10 GB each with quarterly visiting privileges?

That's exactly why it would have to be for next year, with a more flexible prize system or something.

Is there a specific slogan or words or whatever that should be included in the design?

For example, I imagine having t-shirtforums.com SOMEWHERE would be a a requirement?
Does the phrase "year of the t-shirt" or "2 year extravaganza" ect. should be included?

Hypothetically if people did want to collaborate, and you were willing to accept joint submissions, it probably wouldn't be that hard for them to figure out how to split the prize between themselves (e.g. one gets the cash, one gets the iPod, or etc.)

Nope:

Rule Two "don't limit yourself to my cheesy design theme" (so it doesn't have to be about the year of the t-shirt, etc.)

Rule Three "the entries don't have to use the T-ShirtForums.com logo"

No, there doesn't even have to be any slogan or words on the design at all.

You could use just imagery to deliver the message or theme.

It doesn't have to have t-shirtforums.com in the design at all (this is also included in the rules in the first post). I'll save the forum URL for the inside label.

It's basically a t-shirt design contest with a theme. The theme is "a t-shirt design about the t-shirt industry"

Think of it like a writing contest about a particular subject, but you can get creative and deliver the message and theme any way you like You can even take creative license about what exactly the theme means.

Whether you deliver a poem, a song, a limerick a screenplay or whatever is up to you.

For example: 12 different people could write about "bunnies" 12 different ways. Your job, should you choose to accept it , is to deliver the one you feel will be the most compelling.

Use pictures, words, colors, shapes, whatever to deliver the best t-shirt design about the t-shirt industry that you can.

Half the fun will be seeing how people interpret the theme and turn it into a cool t-shirt design.
