Default I need help with Cafe press designs

I just opened a cafe press store. Most of the shirts that I want to do are going to be text only. It came to my suprise that I had to upload any text that I do as an image. I really do not want to invest any money in any programs right now. Are there any free programs to help me do this? I tried to do a search on these forums but every time a thread starts on this subject, it seems the thread strarts taking on a completely different subject only a few posts in. Please reply with your suggestions and try not to let the thread go a different direction.
Thank you

welcome.

look in your computer first to see if it came with a free basic paint program or something like it. You may already have what you're looking for.

I think the answer usually gets posted early in the thread and the conversation continues after that

Two free programs you can try are:

Gimp - available at gimp.org
Inkscape - available at inkscape.org

You can also find some suggested programs in the official CafePress forums in a stickied thread in their Graphics forum here:

Thank you very much for your replies thus far. My computer does have paint and photoshop. I am not very familiar with either. The problem I am having with both of them so far is that the font only goes up to 72. I am going to check out Gimp and inkscape right now. thatnk you again

When you are changing the font size, use your mouse to select the font size box (so both numbers are highlighted) and then just type in the new font size that you want to us (like 500) and it will change the font to a larger size
