Default Software help

Hello People,
I saw some threads on software suggestions for screenprinting, what would be a good software for heat transfers? Thanks again.

Hi Chris,

If you're talking about graphics software, the software suggestions for screenprinting will also apply to heat transfers.

It really depends on the type of art your wanting to do yet
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite Corel Corporation - Home of CorelDRAW, WordPerfect, Paint Shop Pro, Photo Album and Painter will work as well as
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
and ther are some free progs out there but I dont know anythign about them other than some posters here use them.

Corel seems to be the Industry Standard program of choice for most.
some corel related site to get you going if you decide to go the Corel route.

Welcome to Oberon

Not in my experience. I'm not saying it's not good software, but in my experience it's unusual to use it (this might vary by country). In fact I don't personally know a single person who uses Corel (versus dozens who use Adobe CS).

Here is the states almost every shop and sign shop uses corel. There are lots that use Illy yet Corel has cornered the market. Impressions and SGIA have had stats on this in the past.

Im talking about actual printers not t-shirt designers

That might make the difference too; the people I know are primarily graphic designers of various sorts (most of whom also print, but that's not really the same thing).

..Corel has now FOCUSED on the screenprinting industry...it used to be a software that would "work" for what we did.....now with X3 it is designed pimarily with decorated appareel in mind...at Long Beach I met some of the programers and they asked me what some of the things I would like to see in the future...I had a tough time even coming up with anything...between Corel and Smart Designer you have pretty much all the tools a basic to mid level shop will ever need....just my 2 cents!

Exactly
Im an actual X3 Beta tester. Have been working with X3 for almost 2 years now. Due to being a screen printer and artist I have been plugging all sorts of goodies that can help our industry.

that could be correct, almost every designer I know and every design department I worked in (which included some super high volume T-shirt production) we have used nothing but Illustrator and photoshop. But I guess for shops that mainly just print that sounds about right.

I use Smart Designer and Art Explosion for my templates, find them very useful. Definitely as an additive for Corel or Adobe whichever you're using.
