Default Vintage/aged look for images CorelDraw12

I love this forum! You guys are great! Quick question - how would I create that aged/vintage look in Corel. I have a graphic and text but I'm looking for an effect or something that may create that "washed a million times looks" .

You want to add some distressed filters.
check out Welcome to AdvancedArtist.com Graphics Tutorials Tom has a tutu I believe on this.
also you can find some filters at U.S. Screen Print and Inkjet Technology in the downloads section.

I followed the directions for the overlay of the distressed look and it looks great. I had to import an image from Paint Shop Pro into Corel draw which was fine but I had to open a new document in order to imprt and the image didn't come by itself - it has a white background. The overlay looks great but I'm worried if I send it to get printed that there will be a hug white background instead of the design itself. I was thinking about the Bitmap color but the directions say that I should output the image but not output a plate for the white. What is output and what do you suggest?

Probably in a bitmap or tiff or something like that. They gave me a bunch of different options.

by any chance do you use Photoshop?
If not the only thing I can think of is to trace the filter to vector and tim from your graphic.

I rarely use bitmaps in Corel, if I need to use bitmap I use adobe photoshop. Not familuar with Corel PhotoPAINT.

Ill see if I can figure something out for ya.

Convert the image to a one bit black and white bitmap

In Corel Bitmaps>Mode>Black and White

then click X for the fill color and the color of white to outline.

Or...

Open in the in PhotoPaint..

Click on the image in Draw

Then go

Bitmaps>Edit Bitmap>Masks>Color Mask

Mask out the white then save the image and it will go back into the Corel Draw with the white as a transparent.

Then convert to Duotone

Bitmaps>Mode>Dutone and click the black color ship and select the black color chip and then select a white color.

Might tut this up real quick in vid...

Cool Re: Vintage/aged look for images CorelDraw12

Better yet watch this video tutorial it should help...

Distress in Corel Tutorial with Image

Enjoy! Let me know if that helped... With Corel you have PhotoPaint and it is a very powerful raster or bitmap tool that is often over looked. The best part is that is married to your vector software and makes doing production work and great design work pretty easy and fast.

Thanks for the reply - for some reason my trace isn't working in Corel. I've selected the image, converted it to bitmap, everything - but that trace button is never activated for me to pick. How would I activate that thing?
