Default Tracing

I have Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo and Corel Draw 12, however I can't seem to use the trace function. I see it in tools, but I can't get to it. What do you recommend and does this function actually trace the image?

Maybe it has to do with the format of the file you are using.

Do these programs have a format that works best with the trace option. If so, what would that be?

Can you post the steps you are going through to try to do a trace in CorelDraw 12. That will help us see what might be going wrong.

Are you importing a vector graphic first, then clicking on the graphic that you want to trace to make sure it's selected and then clicking on the Bitmaps menu and then trace bitmap?

Paint Shop Pro won't do any vector tracing.

open coreltrace through windows/start menu. Open the bitmap in Coreltrace and trace form there. Save the traced results and import into CorelDRAW

Default Re: Tracing

I need help with this one design I've been trying to trace correctly for the last 3 months, and can't finish it.
It's a photo of a car. After I trace it, it ends up being chopped into tons of small pieces/objects. I've tried cutting down the number of colors it ends up in, but that didn't help. As a matter of fact even if it's all one color black, it still doesn't blend the pieces together. I've tried highlighting the entire object and grouping, no good. I tried "No Outline" for all the objects highlighted, but you can still see the borders.
How can I turn it into one-object image or at least to be able to cut down the number of pieces that make up the final image?
I've tried to follow the steps from here:
tutorial: how to design fashion t-shirts
but it wasn't much help since I don't have photoshop - instead it's corel and corel's pro photo
Thank you guys

Check that the image isn't a palleted 8bit image. If it is a lot of the menu functions won't work. Change it to RGB and try that

Go to the image menu and see what the options are for changing it. On Corel 13 the resolution is displayed next to the image name as well.

Or try this
In DRAW import the bitmap. go to
Bitmaps/mode/black & white
Change the type to line art and adjust the slider until your happy. click apply/ok
Now trace this image.
resluted trace should be B&W object.

Also I see replys for X3 and V12. Which are you running?
This will work in both but ther is another step in X3 that might make life easier for you after the trace is complete.
